     Happy July 4th Trailblazers....all 414 of you!! As you know this coming Monday we will be at Fisherman's Landing where we will provide the facility, charcoal, and sodas....at Club Expense. We hope to see the kayakers, led by Margo and Joe, safely disembark and join us early afternoon. We hope to see many of you for BBQ and whatever tickles your fancy. I'm looking forward to seeing members of my community and enjoy a holiday and the Florida Life by water, foilage, fauna, and fowl....as I sip cool wine/beer and thank God and Country for living in the U.S.A. I think I'll swim, throw a ball, look at girls, and eat BBQ.....all because I joined the TBrs 6 years ago and have since realized the landscape of my life is painted by the people in it. I like what I'm seeing. I just hope it's not a watercolor and gets washed away.
     Why should I be a Trailblazer? That is the question. June 1st was the deadline for renewal. More than half of you have renewed but many have not. Do I really have to go in to detail to try and convince the $5 Meet Up people and the "what do I get for my $25" people? I'm a bit weary of pitching the obvious but I'll sit tight until the end of July because I don't want to lose ANY of you from my Club Dream....that we are all civil humans trying to engage in meaningful conversation and activities in a Club atmosphere where we hopefully know each other....not strangers...a Club that will enrich our lives beyond any monetary value....resulting in memories which will last forever. But here's a few... Overnight trips to Historic Savannah and The Florida Keys hosted by dedicated members who think of you....a return of your $25 many times over..Picnics that we should charge for but do not even though we have to pay for the Pavillion, etc.....one of the best New Year's Eve Parties in the County usually costing the Club because of our overzealous efforts in trying to entertain you.....Christmas Chili Cook Off provided by our many stellar chefs....handcrafted/animated email updates EVERY Wednesday of every month provided by your Board and the fantastic people who host events....52 times/year...outlining a multitude of events and activities too numerous and diverse to delineate now.....Insurance at $1200 a year for your/our peace of mind....Monthly Membership meetings with gourmet food from such renowned outfits as BTs Bistro (kidding) and y'all secret chefs....a website which will soon be professionally updated, user friendly, and will rock and roll!!!....a vibrant Community of Veterans, Nurses, Educators, Law Enforcement, Self Employed business persons, Engineers, Space Center workers, Realtors, Lawyers, Artists, Musicians, Authors.....and a lot of lollygaggers.....no problem....we all lollygag. I don't get the naysayers.....and don't care to...I guess that's why their lives are so exciting and fulfilling without us. I'm not saying we're the Bomb but after living all over the world and being a Beverly Hills Lawyer who shopped on Rodeo Drive and drove a Porsche.....take it from me..this Club in the here and now far surpasses all of the Big City Hype trappings of success and stature. It all went to hell in a hand basket anyhow but now I know that "lil ole Brevard and y'all" are far more valuable than lunch in my Canali suit at Spagos elbow to elbow with Hollywood Stars and a quick trip after lunch to Gucci for another $100 tie. Please renew this month ....AND get at least one new member by the end of the year.
     We had a Board Meeting last night and thanks to Jeff, Judy, Apollo, Bobbie, Keith, and many others we achieved a $2500 positive return on the Keys Trip which is generally a very stressful contractual $23K+ liabilty we deal with every year. Do any other Clubs go on the line for you like this? We are now considering earmarking the money for a shortfall one year....or reinvest it in to the Club...i.e. New Website...or just throw a hell of a party (kidding) but we will be responsible about it and will be thinking of only your benefit.....while I'm in First Class on the way to Rome....Kidding. We have so many ideas and intentions which will transpire over time. We spend blood, sweat, and a lot of tears to keep you happy...but give me a break....stop doubting and nitpicking and do it yourself??? That's OK. We'll keep doing it if you will just keep positive and be there.
     The August Membership meeting on Saturday the 6th will be an "Ice Cream Social....HOT AUGUST KNIGHTS....I mean NIGHTS"....for members ONLY...or people who are genuinely interested in the Club. We'll provide lots of gourmet Ice Cream and some delicious toppings. Should we charge nonmembers?.....Please...no more lollygagging.
