The Dog Days of Summer are upon us already even though it is
not officially summer. On Sunday at The Sands in Melbourne Beach I must have
forgotten that I am no longer 25. Playing Volleyball and Swimming in the hot sun
sure caught up with me Monday. I think I had heat stroke. I was wiped out. Marv,
John, Jim, Gary, Dave, Dorn, Cindy and myself attemped to play volleyball. We
had a few hot volleys.....but I ate sand most of the time. At least we played
together....not enough of that in this world. The Ocean was perfect after
sweating puddles at volleyball. I think we need to do it all again. Next time we
need Bob and Donna out there whacking the ball too. There's a joke in there
somewhere.
Thanks Sandy for hosting the Brunch and bringing
fresh fruit. It was post card perfect. We had an impressive turnout. The Brunch
is pretty good there. Dorn had two Belgian waffles smothered with blueberrries
and cream. The omelettes were made to order and the service was pleasant and
quick. Everyone was munching away to the sound of the crashing surf and our idle
banter. No better way to relax. Thanks John of Melbourne Beach for bringing two
lovely new lady members Liz and Marge. We need to get them out on the Beach next
time. We also had two new members show up after Brunch... Martha and
Stevie.....I hope we didn't bore you with our beach chatter covering many
controversial subjects but, hey "we are the world." Breaking bread with Brenda
and all of you was inspiring and enriching. We also need to wish Joy and Rob
"Bon Voyage" to the West Coast. They
have been members for a long time and we will miss them. They met through the
Club, made their vows, and are moving along to their next dream as a happy
family. I get tearful as I watch our TBr community transform before my eyes.
Thanks for bringing the cherries Rob and Joy. May life now be a bowl of cherries
to you as well.
I received a call yesterday from a Mary of Viera
who was referred by Pat a recent member of our Club. Mary heard we are a "great
group". She just moved down here. She doesn't want the "grass to grow under her
feet" so she'll be joining us. She has friends who will be joining as well.
Thanks Pat and Mary for your concerted
efforts in expanding YOUR community. The ripples extend indefinitely in
this Sea of Possibility....you just need to stick your toe in. Thanks to all of
you who continue to refer new members.
As I said before there will NOT be a July
membership meeting. We are having the July 4th picnic on Monday so we thought we would just lay low that
Saturday. Don't forget to RENEW YOUR MEMBERSHIP as soon as possible. See you
soon. Be happy and remember.....we love you....most of the time. We can only
hope you love us too.....sometimes.
